Thank you for all the interesting collections that came in on Wednesday. We will be estimating and counting a portion of each collection on that child's special day. We did Morgan's last Friday and she graciously shared 10 silly bands with each student.

We also enjoyed our Hundred's Day book, and counting out one hundred valentine seeds for the birds instead of our regular activities.
We ran out of time and didn't get to make our Hundred's Day snack, but I have promised them we will do it this Wednesday instead.

We will be reading 2 books again this week emphasizing number words. The first, coming home on Tuesday, is called "Counting Letters." On Thursday they will bring home "How Many Legs?" with new sight words "how" and "many."
In Bible we will be hearing the story of the prophet Elisha and his encounter with Naaman. This is not as familiar as most of the stories we have done, but it is a good one that they will enjoy.
In math we will begin to explore two digit numbers in the forties, fifties and sixties, with emphasis on place value. In phonics our activities will emphasize short vowel "u."
Don't forget that school will not be open on Monday, Feb. 20, President's Day. I will be there if you wish to schedule a conference, just put a note in your child's folder letting me know what time you can come. If you have not heard from me already, it is because I do not feel that a conference is necessary at this time. I see many of you every day anyway, and don't feel the need for a formal conference. But I do have your child's assessment papers if you would like to see them.
QUICK NOTE: International Night has been changed from Feb. 27 to March 2. All you need to do is reserve this night and come and enjoy seeing what each class has done. We will be studying Japan.
Tuesday - Cianna
Wednesday - McKayla
Thursday - Tim
Friday - Veronica
Weekly Resource Schedule:
Monday - Art
Tuesday - P.E. and Spanish
Wednesday - Library
Thursday - Music
Friday - Computer
