Thank you Mrs. Williams for the fun cupcakes you sent for Cody's birthday on Thursday.  We are turning six one by one. Only a few birthdays left to celebrate.  First grade is right around the corner!

We are beginning to tentatively sound out words with 2 vowels using the rule that when a word has two vowels the first one is long and the second one is silent.  This week we will learn about the long "o" on  the end of short words like go, so, and no.  And we will continue to practice reading simple one and two vowel words as well.

In math we are still exploring large numbers, in the 80's and 90's and 100!  We are doing lots of place value activities, and continuing to count our 100 days collections.  Our special people this week are:
Sydney on Monday, Braylynn on Tuesday, Cody on Wednesday, Emily A. on Thursday, and Caiden on Friday.

Thanks to Emily A. for bringing in some authentic items brought over from China.  And to all who have shared a numerous variety of items made in China and found  in your homes.

Afton brought in an authentic boomerang from Australia.  How we longed to try it out, but we refrained for fear of injuring either ourselves, or the boomerang.  Afton also shared VA state coloring books which she brought for each of us from her recent visit with her father to our state  capital.  Now that we have completed our study of various foreign countries, we will look at our own state this week and enjoy our new coloring books.  Thanks, Mr. Fults!

We will also begin work in our science books this week.  We begin with a study of God's wonderful world as experienced through our 5 senses.

Don't forget the PTF meeting this Monday, March 8, at 7:00.
Come out and get involved and support our wonderful school.  There is a place for everyone!
