UPWARD BASKETBALL & CHEERLEADING

Upward Basketball is a program designed to give children (both boys and girls) and their families a positive sports experience to build character, self esteem and salvation.  Churches like New Bridge Baptist have partnered with Upward to reach communities for Christ through a children's sports ministry using Upward Basketball and other sports ministry programs.  Specifically designed for kindergarten through sixth grade boys and girls, Upward provides all the resources necessary to empower volunteers in your church to promote salvation, character, and self-esteem in every person involved in your Upward ministry. The service Upward provides continues throughout the season. Our staff is trained in all aspects of Upward and is prepared to answer any of your questions.

2008/09 Upward Registration Information:

  • Registration is open to (1st) first through (6th) sixth grade boys and girls.
    Registration forms are now available for the 2008 Season.  You can download the form from this site or secure a printed form from the church office or the Academy office.
  • Submit registration forms either prior to or on evaluation nights.
    Evaluation nights are the first week of November 2008.  Please check the Registration Form for the appropriate date and time to attend. 
  • Practice begins in early December with one night a week for one hour and one hour game on Saturday.  The first game is mid-January and last game is in early March with an Awards Night following soon thereafter. 
  • Everyone must attend one Evaluation Night or Cheerleading Orientation at New Bridge Baptist Gym according to age/grade level:

                  1st & 2nd Grade Boys/Girls - Mon. Nov. 3th 6-8:30pm

                  3rd & 4th Grade Boys/Girls - Tues. Nov. 4th 6-8:30pm

                  5th & 6th Grade Boys/Girls - Thur. Nov. 6th 6-8:30pm

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!

    Upward Ministry Opportunities
    1. Coach or assist a boys or girls basketball team
    2. Coach or assist a cheerleading squad
    3. Present practice devotions (supplied by Upward)
    4. Referee games on Saturday
    5. Run the clock for games on Saturday
    6. Keep score book for the Saturday games
    7. Give halftime Saturday games devotion (testimony in song, personal, play instrument, etc.)
    8. Work in concession stand
    9. Help set up on Friday evening or clean up after last game on Saturday
    10. Be a part of our prayer team (pray for one item a day for 100 days - supplied by Upward
    11. Make a donation to New Bridge Baptist Church - memo: Upward Basketball. We are a self-sustaining ministry. Scholarships are given to those that can't pay so kids can play.
